Acrylic and oil on canvas.
Ideas for paintings come from all sorts of places for me. One of those places is good old-fashioned word play. This painting legitimately came about because I was sitting in my studio thinking about the phrase "the cultural landscape". I wasn’t thinking about it in a profound way or anything. I was just sort of stupidly enjoying the words. But then I had this thought: What would tending to the cultural landscape look like? Not surprisingly, it looks a lot like tending to the regular landscape but with an added dash of impending doom.
